First World War officially ends?
The First World War will officially end on Sunday, October the 3rd 2010. Ninety two years after the guns fell silent, Germany pays off the last instalment of the £22 billion reparations imposed on it by France, Belgium and the Allies.
The final payment of £59.5 million of a crippling debt for the German Nation which after the Wall Street crash of 1929, probably paved the way for the rise of Adolf Hitler 4 years later and another World War, has finally brought to an end (Financially) World War One.
The repayment of the debt can in no way justify or off set the suffering and loss of millions of people or the deaths of 10 million soldiers.
