SSAFA-Shropshire.org Forces Help is your local branch (See: SSAFA fact sheet pdf) and is available to serving personnel or, those that have served in the British Armed Forces, for a minimum of, one day of paid service.

SSAFA-Shropshire Forces Help is also available to their immediate family, dependants, widows or widowers.

Merchant Navy Personnel, who have served in war zones, may also be entitled to help from SSAFA-Shropshire Forces Help.

SSAFA Forces Help operates world-wide:

SSAFA Forces Help has a worldwide network of voluntary caseworkers and visitors who are very well trained, empathetic, nonjudgmental, supportive, knowledgeable, and are more than capable of resolving, or, giving confidential advice to clients who have problems. (Please note: SSAFA Forces Help, no longer gives advice on debt related problems, although, they can point you in the right direction as to where you can get excellent Free Debt advice).

Where is SSAFA Forces Help based?
SSAFA Forces Help, Central Office is based in London from where the, staff supervise and support over 7000 voluntary workers in the UK.

SSAFA-Shropshire Forces Help, ‘Shropshire_Branch,’ is based at Copthorn Barracks, Shrewsbury, SY3 8LZ and it is from here that the Branch Secretary coordinates the five Divisions within the county. South Shropshire, Oswestry, Shrewsbury, North Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

The ‘Telford and Wrekin Division,’ which administers Bridgenorth, Telford and Wrekin, has an office at Parsons Barracks, Donnington, Telford, TF2 8LS, where the daily telephone calls for assistance are received. Each Division is headed by a Divisional Secretary who directs and assigns case work to one of up to 20 volunteer workers.

A caseworker will be assigned to a client by the Divisional Secretary on a priority basis. The client will then be contacted by the caseworker to arrange an appointment for a home visit.
